On September 9, 2021 an unannounced routine full-facility inspection was performed by a veterinary medical officer from The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). No non-compliant items were identified during the inspection of Princeton University's animal care program.

Princeton University issued a report of non-compliance on July 1, 2021 to the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare of the National Institutes of Health concerning a mouse involved in a research protocol. The mouse was found dead in its cage after post-surgical complications.
