Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) welcomes Dr. Jamus MacGuire as Assistant Director of Veterinary Services. In this role, Jamus oversees daily operations of the Veterinary Services team and manages all aspects of veterinary care for Princeton’s research animals, including non-human primate health surveillance and preventative medicine. He also provides veterinary consultation to research faculty and staff on animal protocols and model development.
Jamus comes to Princeton with 12 years of experience as a board-certified laboratory animal veterinarian. For the past 10 years, he worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb providing primary surgical and clinical care to a wide variety of research animals in support of the company’s drug discovery programs.
Jamus earned his bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience at Connecticut College. In 2006, he received his DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He then completed a residency training program in primate medicine at the California National Primate Research Center located at the University of California, Davis.
