RIA Welcomes a New Associate Director to Oversee Research Conflicts of Interest

Hope Caldwell will become associate director for RIA’s conflict of interest (COI) unit on Monday, July 25, 2022. In this role, Hope will administer RIA’s Conflict of Interest (COI) program, working closely with multiple offices across the University on COI guidelines and policies, training, reporting, identifying, and managing real and potential conflicts of time and effort, use of resources, and financial interest. She will also manage the COI in the Research panel, which discusses COI-related issues and deliberates policy.
Hope served as associate director in the Office of Audit and Compliance since July 2015, where she worked to promote understanding of the compliance governance structure at the University. She has served on a number of committees on campus including the Academic Managers Group steering committee, the Environmental Safety and Risk Management (ESRM) committee, the Benefits Review Committee, and the Minors Oversight Committee.
Prior to joining Princeton, Hope served nine years with the City of Philadelphia, where she was the Chief Integrity Officer creating policies, guidance, and implementing city-wide, ethics-related outreach efforts. Hope earned her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from Penn State University. She is a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE), the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA), the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
